St. Ailbe’s Secondary School was proud to host its first-ever Interschools Showjumping Competition on Saturday at Garranemore Equestrian Centre. The event was a tremendous success, attracting 164 entries from 40 schools across the region.
The competition featured five classes, with prizes awarded from 1st to 6th place, along with special awards for Best Turned Out and Best ETB School.
Representing St. Ailbe’s were:
-
Sarah O’Connor
-
Lexie Ryan
-
Mia McCormack
-
Katie Murphy
Competing as individuals were Hannah O’Connor and Kayla Crowe. St. Ailbe’s riders performed exceptionally well, with Hannah O’Connor taking 1st place and Sarah O’Connor placing 2nd in the 80cm Individual Class.
The Team Competition was won by Causeway Community School, who also claimed the award for Best ETB School on the day.
The atmosphere throughout the event was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many schools come together to celebrate equestrian sport. The day ran smoothly thanks to the hard work of staff, students, and volunteers, and it was enjoyed by all who attended.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our generous sponsors, whose support helped make the event possible and ensured that all our winners were well rewarded.
Our inaugural Interschools Showjumping Competition was a great success, and we look forward to hosting it again next year!
