Music is very vibrant in St Ailbes and is an integral part of the fabric of our school.
Music room
A wide variety of instruments are available including a number of keyboards , drum kit , guitars, ukuleles , bodhran We are looking forward to working with Tipperary Music Generation who will be offering tuition on various instruments.
An integral part of our school calendar each year is the production of our School Musical , which is usually staged the week coming up to Halloween break.
The school musical is eagerly looked forward to by pupils and staff and is always one of the highlights of the school year .
Our Shows are a great success and show the talent of the young people in St Ailbes.
It is a whole school team effort and it nurtures a sense of school spirit , belonging and fun factor .
All are encouraged to get involved, a fantastic opportunity to make new friends , develop self confidence , discover and nurture talent – a fantastic experience .
We stage the show in our School Hall and is eagerly supported by the local community and schools .
A large cast performs each year as well as another large group involved in backstage preparations – props, painting sets, hair , make – up , front of house , fund raising , raffle sellers and box office assistants . A large number of students take part each year .
School Choir and Seinn Choir
Singing is an integral part of school life in St Ailbes. Students are invited to join the Seinn Choir and School Choir
The highlights for those that love to sing is :
The ‘Seinn’ Choir with soloists from our school who perform in the Cathedral in Thurles each year along with many other choirs and the School Choir which performs at local events, and Choral competitions e.g. Feis Maithiu, Kilkenny Choral Festival, Waltons Schools Competiton.
Many students will choose to sing as part of their Junior and Leaving Certificate Music Practical Exams.
