Enterprise Trip to Dublin

On Wednesday the 2nd of April the TYs and 5th years of St.Ailbes school embarked on a trip to Dublin. The bus departed at 8:30. The bus drive was long but extremely enjoyable, after a few stops on the way we finally reached Dublin and proceeded to Croke Park where the first activity of our day awaited us. We got off the bus and made our way into the stadium grounds for the Enterprise awards. The ideas and businesses that were presented there were mind blowing and the atmosphere was electric, everyone was buzzing with excitement. After having a look around, testing apps, and being thoroughly amazed time and time again, it was time to head back to the bus. Back on the road again, we travelled to The National History Museum. We then split into two groups, one of which had lunch while the other went to see all that the museum had to offer. The exhibitions were superb and people flocked around them with cameras flashing and a new sense of enlightenment on life in ancient Ireland.

We saw how the commoners of ancient Ireland lived in poverty and squalor. Sympathy seemed to radiate from one person to the next but everyone still had smiles on their faces as they realised how proud they should be that the people of this country have come as far as they have. Then we took a trip through a time zone when we found ourselves surrounded by mummies and sarcophagi. We were in Ancient Egypt!! The exhibit was fascinating and eyes were glued to the artefacts on display. The sounds of pens scratching on paper echoed the room as the students wrote speedily trying to cram as much as possible in the short space of time we had available. After the excitement died down everyone headed back to the bus and we got ready for our trip back to school. The journey was long and everyone was tired but the day we’d experienced was fun for all involved.
